A Response to The Crisis of Anti-Asian Racism & Violence

Statements from Student Organizations | Stop Hate

The racist and xenophobic violence and attacks towards Asian communities are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. These recent events are happening in the midst of anti-Asian racism and oppression, which have disproportionately affected individuals who identify as Asian women. We condemn and actively fight against racism, xenophobia and oppression in all forms. Recent events continue to highlight the realities of racism in our society. The bias that led to the shootings of Asian people in Atlanta yesterday stems from the same hatred that resulted in the shootings of Black people in a Charleston church in 2015. It is the horrific reality for anyone who is oppressed because of their race. This reflects a system of oppression that exists across all levels of American society. These events and so many others are why we fight to dismantle racism with the goal of liberation for all. For students who need space to talk, pray or meditate, process and reset, the CIL in Richardson Building RM 105 is available. We are also working with our AAPI leaders within our community to take actions.

Today and always: We support you. We are in solidarity with you. We will continue to advocate with you.

We invite members of the AAPI communities on campus to gather virtually for "A Moment to Process" with Stephen Deaderick, PhD. (He/Him) Assistant Director for Residence Life  and Stephanie Choy, LPC-S (she/her) and Staff Therapist for the Counseling Center Join
