Sienna Abdulahad
Sienna Abdulahad is a scholar, activist, author and practitioner focused on equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. She currently servcs as the Director of Finance and Operations in the Phyllis M. Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking. Her work started at the intersection of communications, experiential marketing, and higher education. With more than a decade of experience working with diverse groups of college students in, and outside, the classroom, Abdulahad strives to impact the lives of students by exposing them to various theories and practices grounded in Black feminist thought. Sienna is focused on equitable outcomes that support the retention and holistic development of marginalized students, faculty, staff, and alumni. She also works to equip students and colleagues with the tools they need to reimagine and realize an antiracist and fully liberatory society. She is a co-author of The Table: Stories from Black Women in Student Affairs, and Navigating COVID-19: Perspectives and Strategies from Women of Color in Academia
In addition to her work at Tulane, Sienna Abdulahad is a co-author of a book that chronicles the experiences of Black women working in higher education.
When she is not at work, Sienna prefers to spend time with her family and friends hiking, traveling, and reading. She is also a member of an NPHC sorority. Sienna plans to pursue a doctoral degree in the coming years and become an active contributor to the body of research on the success of underrepresented students in higher education.
