The Ambassadors program is a competitive opportunity offered to seven currently enrolled students each year. Our goal is to develop a cohort of students who understand the benefits of integrating academic excellence, professional development, and intercultural competence in their lives. Each Ambassador demonstrates their holistic development through advocacy and practical service, and blaze a path for future Tulane students seeking a similar experience. By integrating their academic interests and commitment to social justice and inclusion, ambassadors will design programs and projects to engage with current students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the New Orleans community. The ideal time commitment for an ambassador is 8-10 hours each week. At the end of the year, an appreciation event to celebrate the accomplishments of these exceptional students, they will showcase their projects (posters, videos, slideshows, etc.) and present their vision for the future Tulanians like themselves.
This ambassador will promote and engage with the Kaleidoscope Residential Living Community. They will spend at least 2 hours each week in Paterson Hall working to help their peers develop skills and habits critical to succeeding during the two years on campus. They will attend family dinners and contribute to building community with residents by serving as a role model and example.
This ambassador will plan and implement programs sponsored by the "O". They will work closely with the "O" staff to engage with students and evaluate programs using the lens of a student. The ambassador will spend at least 2 hours each week researching opportunities on campus and connecting new students to those programs.
This ambassador will design publications and marketing materials. The will also work to develop the "O"s online presence, including the website and social media content across platforms. This ambassador will spend 2 hours each week engaging online with members of the Tulane Community to encourage civil dialogue around social justice, inclusion, and relevant issues in the New Orleans community.
This ambassador will create digital content highlighting the various experiences available to students through the "O". They will record video content, conduct interviews, capture images, and design graphics that appeal to students seeking an inclusive space and equitable opportunities on campus. They will spend at least 2 hours each week capturing digital content during programs and events hosted by the "O".
This ambassador will connect with members of the Tulane community when issues arise around inclusion. They will meet with student leaders to develop an understanding of their issues and work to develop plans of action with members of the Tulane community who are working toward social change. This student will spend 2 hours each week engaging with student organizations, in person and online, serving as a liaison. They will suggest meaningful opportunities for the "O" to collaborate and provide support as needed.
This ambassador will seek out opportunities to engage with various offices, faculty, alumni, and other members of the community to enhance the network of collaborators, accomplices and allies committed to the success of students of color, and LGBTQIA students. The student will spend 2 hours each week to plan peer mentor program opportunities intentionally working to create and share a collection of mentors, sponsors, and advocates who are invested in the advancement of this population of students
