The Art of Healing is a Virtual Arts Festival focused on sharing the various narratives and counter-narratives of healing. In 2020, we have experienced a global pandemic, a racial reckoning and other forms of trauma. Throughout our histories and across numerous cultures, healing has been found through a variety of practices. Art is one way to explore, understand, and make meaning of a path to healing. We invite all who wish to participate in the Tulane community, to share your expressions of healing through art. The submissions we intend to highlight are focused on artistically expressing the impact of our lived experiences and the healing process at different stages of our lives. We will accept many forms of artistic expression including (but not limited to);
- Photography
- Poetry
- Short Stories
- Videos
- Paintings - (Images or videos of paintings)
- Illustrations (Images or videos of illustrations)
- Songs
- Crafts
- Ultimately anything that can be digitally displayed on a website or hyperlinked
The Submission Process:
After you complete a sign up form, a box folder will be created for you to upload the following by the November 12, 2020 deadline

- Your Bio (No more than 500 words)
- Name
- Major/Career Goals
- Interests/Hobbies/Goals
- Your Photo
- Abstract - a description or of your submission describing how it connect
Important Dates:
- Interest form & Submission Description Deadline Monday, October 26
- Submission Deadline: Thursday, November 12
- Submission Review: Monday, November 16 - Friday, November 20
- Art Festival Website Launch: November 30
Prizes:
In the Spring semester, participants will receive free merchandise branded with aspects featuring some of the art submitted for the festival. We will also share submissions throughout social media and the top three (based on Instagram likes and comments) will receive a special gift pack at the start of the spring semester.
